How do I migrate my local TM2 Database to another server? - TM2 Only

Note

This article relates to TM2 desktop software only.

On the current Server/Workstation

Ensure all users except ‘admin’ are logged out of TM2 and take a backup of your database.

  • Tools
  • TM2 Options
  • Advanced Settings
  • Backup & Restore
  • Backup Database Now

(The backup file for the live database is called tmbase-full.bak)

  1. Save the tmbase-full.bak to a removable disk drive/USB pen
  2. Copy the contents of the entire TM2 Shared folder to removable disk drive/USB pen This is stored at C:\Program Files\BlueZinc\TM2\Shared

Note this will be C:\Program Files (x86) if you have a 64bit machine 3. Stop and disable the Bluezinc SQL service Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services > SQL Server (Bluezinc) – (this will prevent users from logging into current server/workstation)

On the New Server:

  1. Complete Pre TM2 Installation Task on New Server
  2. Download & Install TM2 with the database by clicking here and selecting the TM2 Local TM2 Download
  3. Double-click on the TM2 icon on the PC desktop and when prompted, select the option, I Have Purchased TM2.
  4. You will then be asked for your Client ID and PIN Code which has been mailed out to you. Enter your Client ID, PIN Code and then click on Start TM2
    • If you don’t have this detail the account holder (name on the record we hold) can call in and have this provided. We can ONLY provide this to the person named on the account.
  5. Login into TM2:
    • Username: admin
    • Password: password (If you have any issues with logging in then please get in contact with Blue Zinc Support)
  6. Save the tmbase-full.bak file which you have copied from the old server to C:\Program Files\BlueZinc\TM2\Backup\Full\tmBase-Full.bak
    • Note this will be C:\Program Files (x86) if you have a 64 bit machine
    • The “full” folder is important as the restore process will only restore files held in a folder of this name.
  7. Stop the ‘TM2 Scheduled Jobs Service’ in Administrative Tools, Services
  8. Go to Tools > TM2 Options > Backup & Restore > Restore Database and browse to C:\Program Files\BlueZinc\TM2\Backup\ and press ok. Once the Restore is complete, Exit TM2. Restart the ‘TM2 Scheduled Jobs Service’
  9. Overwrite the contents of the TM2 Shared folder at C:\Program Files\BlueZinc\TM2\Shared with the contents of the shared folder which you have copied from the original server.
    • Note this will be C:\Program Files (x86) if you have a 64 bit machine
  10. You should now be able to log into TM2 and access your data on the new server machine with Username admin and Password password
  11. In order to restore all login names please contact a member of TM2 Support. The usernames will be restored however the passwords will be reset to ‘password’. This can then be changed from within TM2.(Tools > Change Password)
