Information on running TM2 on iPad's, iPhones and iOS in general

Note

This article relates to both the TM2 and TM3 versions of the desktop software.

The TM2 software is currently not directly compatible with iOS, i.e. Apple operating systems.

That said, there is a way to access your database and the TM2 package from an iPad or any Android tablet for that matter without needing to have the software installed on your device.

A remote access tool will allow you to access your server computer, and then, in turn, allow the use of software on the computer, such as TM2 - from anywhere that has an internet connection.

These tools are used by ourselves and many other IT companies to gain access and provide remote support to clients all over the world. You will have seen this in action if you have contacted support and been asked to use 'Show My PC'.

There are various different software packages out there that provide this service, and many of them are free. However, we have tested TeamViewer internally as a viable option for remote access sessions for iOS.

If you click here you can take a look at the setup steps we have put together for accessing a remote session of TM2 via TeamViewer.

TeamViewer will allow you to access your server computer from another Windows computer or device, Mac or Linux, and also through a mobile app, both Android and iOS.

Below is a list of the advantages of TeamViewer:

  • The software is free for personal use however if you want to purchase it, its a lifetime license. One-time purchase price with no monthly or annual fees. (A full license will also increase the session time that you will be able to run TeamViewer for, with the free version disconnecting every 60 minutes)
  • It's highly secure. Your connections are established via fully encrypted data channels using 2048-bit RSA key exchange and 256-bit AES session encoding.
  • You don't need to worry about firewalls, blocked ports or NAT routing –TeamViewer finds a connection to the remote computer every time.
  • It optimizes display quality and speed depending on your network connection. Giving stability the best performance possible from LAN to mobile internet connections.
